I keep them in a box on my enclosed porch which has no insulation, so I bet it's close to or below freezing out there. I think I'd better do some research on root cellaring, huh? That was a while ago; the inventory sheet taped to the top of the freezer is hopelessly out of date now. Right now, I'm trying to use up what's in there, preperatory to hopefully moving soon. I love the idea of using a plastic storage bin as a root cellar. Have you ever had your root vegetables freeze? Is there a temperature below which you would bring the bin in to avoid getting frozen veggies? I inventoried my deep freeze once.
